Chill cocktail glass. Shake all ingredients over ice. Strain into cocktail glass. Grate some nutmeg as a garnish.
This cocktail goes back to at least 1915, when it is mentioned by Hugo Ensslin. This gin based version probably was the inspiration for the Brandy Alexander.
