Shake all ingredients over ice. Strain into an ice-filled whiskey sour glass. Garnish with part of a spent lime shell.
Trader Vic invented this drink. Instead of rum as a base ingredient, he uses bourbon, perhaps because bourbon was more popular east of the Mississippi.
