Light golden/honey color. Light peat, grass, fresh honey and vanilla in the nose. Opens rather quickly with a fairly light body and initial creamy sweetness. Malty notes then dissolve into a wave of tingling heat with hints of oak. Clean, dry finish lasting about one minute. An approachable blend with a pleasant creaminess in front backed up by unobtrusive peat. Tasted 9/9/2008.

Notes

Dewar's White Label became the number one Scotch in America in 1986 and still outsells all other brands today. It is blended from about 40 different single malts the youngest being 3 years and the oldest being 8 years. Dewar's White Label is known for its balance, smoothness, and consistency.

White Label debuted in 1898. Back then, it was a blend of about 10 malts, with the Aberfeldy malt being the heart of the blend. Today, Aberfeldy is still a big part of the blend, though the number of malts has increased.

There is no actual, written or documented recipe for Dewars's White Label. The secret of blending is passed down from one Master Blender to another. There have been exactly five Dewar's Master Blenders during the 150-year company history. Because the human palate is limited to tasting only sweet, salty, sour and bitter, the Master Blender uses his far more sophisticated sense of smell to 'nose' the complex aromas of a matured whisky blend.
