Wild Turkey 101 Proof Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Medium amber in color. Rye and corn aromas...more rye than usual for a bourbon. Closed on the palate at first, then opens gently with rye body and oak notes. This leads to a pleasant burn which forms the basis of a fairly long finish. The 101 proof may be helping here. Overall, a dry, oaky style. Would stand up nicely in an Old Fashioned. Tasted 9/2/2006.
Notes
"Wild Turkey 101° has an exceptionally soft, but rich aroma for a high proof bourbon, due to quality at all stages of its production. The taste is an American classic with caramel and vanilla and notes of honey and oranges. The finish is very long, rich and full-bodied, powerful, yet soothing." - From the manufacturer's website.
