Clear. Pine and vanilla in the nose. Pillowy texture with cane juice flavors, then a bit of nutmeg and menthol. Medium finish with touches of oak. Nicely balanced between the cane sweetness, the oak, and the alcohol heat. Though this is a white rum, Havana Club ages it briefly on oak, and then filters out any color. This is the standard rum for a Mojito. Tasted 10/12/2007.

Description

Havana Club Añejo Blanco is the youngest of Havana Club's aged rums. It reflects Cuba's expertise at making light, white rums, with 'añejo' highlights to the natural aging process common to all Havana Club rums. A series of careful and balanced blends of ingredients, which are aged in oak casks, gives life to this young white rum.

From the manufacturer's website.

Havana Club Añejo Blanco is different than most white rums because it is aged in oak for a short while. Any color is filtered out and you get a very smooth white rum with more body, character, and anejo notes than most white rums. As Don Jose Navarro, Havana Club's Master Blender puts it,

The whitest of all aged rums, the most aged of all white rums.
