Pure Pot Still Irish Whiskey
Redbreast 12 Year Irish Whisky
Review
91
Amber and more reddish than Jameson or Bushmills. Fairly intense aromas of bread pudding, raisins, nutmeg, and lemon peel. A measured open with honey notes, then slightly smoky. Blossoms into nice malt flavors and delicate mouthfeel. Resembles a single malt Scotch. Smooth heat leads into a nice 45 second finish. There are some sherry notes at the end. Tasted 4/12/2007.
Notes
"This pure pot still whiskey is matured for a minimum of 12 years in sherry casks and Bourbon barrels. Like all good pot still whiskeys, it is strongly flavoured and assertive, making it a rare treat for the connoisseur of fine old whiskey." - From the manufacturer's website.
