Pale straw color. Light peat, honey, mint, and almonds in the nose. Moderately fast open to a light to medium body. Malt, light peat smoke, and dates are evident. Snappy acidity at the back of the palate followed by an herbal, menthol burn. Short finish with slight allspice notes. A light, mellow style. Tasted 1/19/2008.
Notes
This is an approachable style for those wanting to get into single malts, especially if you're already drinking blends.
The light colour of this malt belies the richness of its character. Whilst the nose suggests a wide range of aromas, from citrus fruits to pears and a hint of peat, the palate excites even further with a touch of smoke, vanilla essence, nutmeg, cinnamon and the salty tang we have come to expect from Springbank.
