Oban 14 Year Scotch Whisky
Review

Copper/amber color. Iodine, minerals, and brine in the nose. Silky at first on the palate, like glycerin. Then it steadily opens with hearty charcoal, fairly heavy smoky peat, and more iodine. A bit salty and gritty mouthfeel. Dry spice and sandalwood notes in the medium long finish. This Western Highlands malt has some seaside characteristics, but not the more powerful peat of the island malts. Tasted 9/20/2008.
Notes
The Oban Distillery is primarily known for its 14-year-old expression, which is marketed as part of Diageo's 'Classic Malts Selection' range, launched in 1988.
